A team of undergraduate students from the School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (STCM), Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM), won the Bronze Award in the International Track at the 2026 Grand Finals of the 12th China Undergraduate Medical Innovation Tournament & The Belt and Road International Competition, held on 16 August at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.

The team comprised Oon Jing Shen, Tan Ke Ying, Looi Zhi Wei and Ngam Li-Bin. Their project, From Registry Records to Research Intelligence: A Domain-Specific Living Evidence Platform for Wound Clinical Studies, addresses practical challenges in wound clinical research, including inconsistent terminology, fragmented research information, and the need for up-to-date evidence. The platform uses publicly available clinical trial registry data to harmonise terminology, classify wounds, analyse research trends, link publications, and enable continuous updates. It provides researchers and clinical teams with a traceable and reusable tool, with particular value for research on diabetic foot ulcers and other chronic wounds.

The competition is listed in the National College Student Competition Analysis Report published by the China Association of Higher Education. The International Track is open to medical students worldwide and focuses on interdisciplinary medical innovation and international health issues.

The project was supervised by Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shahzad Aslam and Prof. Dr. Chen Shaodong from XMUM, who guided the project framework, data organisation, platform logic, and English presentation. Prof. Dr. Qiu Yan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Penghua from XMU's School of Medicine also provided advice on the research approach and academic standards.

Prof. Dr. Chen Shaodong, Dean of STCM, served as an expert judge for the Pharmacy and Traditional Chinese Medicine Track at the national finals.
