Biography
Dr. Tan Chu Shan (PhD, ChM) is an Assistant Professor at Xiamen University Malaysia with multidisciplinary expertise spanning pharmacology, analytical chemistry, laboratory medicine, and healthcare research. She earned her PhD in Pharmacology from Universiti Sains Malaysia, where she investigated antihypertensive herbal formulations, vascular pharmacology, and mechanisms of vasodilation in natural products. Her doctoral and postdoctoral work contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications, international awards, and collaborative research projects.
Before returning to academia, Dr. Tan accumulated substantial industrial experience in scientific instrumentation and analytical sciences. She served as Application and Product Specialist and have many years experience in supporting advanced analytical platforms. These experiences strengthened her expertise in laboratory workflow optimization, method development, quality assurance, and translational research applications.
Her research interests mainly focus on natural products and traditional medicine, cardiovascular pharmacology, metabolomics, analytical method development, pharmaceutical quality evaluation, and AI-assisted healthcare analytics. She is particularly interested in integrating advanced analytical technologies with biostatistical approaches to advance precision medicine, and enhance pharmaceutical quality assessment. With experience spanning both academia and industry, she has authored more than 30 scientific publications and actively promotes industry-academia collaboration while mentoring the next generation of scientists in biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences.
