The Research and Postgraduate Centre congratulates Chemical Engineering students, Weng Ying, Peng Hao Yi, and Lau Hui Shen, and their supervisor, Prof. Ir. Dr. Yong Wai Fen from the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering and Centre of Excellence for Green and Advanced Technologies in Efficient Separations (GATES) on their recent publication of a research article in Advanced Membranes, an ESCI Q1 journal with the latest Impact Factor of 12.6.

XMUM Teams Achieve One Gold and Two Silver Awards at SynBio Challenges 2026
The Suntar-CAMS Sustainability Research Laboratory (SCSRL) teams from Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM) achieved an outstanding result at SynBio Challenges 2026, securing one Gold Award and two Silver Awards across three different competition tracks.The competition was held from 21 to 23 August 2026 at Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (SUAT), attracting 512 teams and 3,849 innovators from nine countries.The SCSRL teams achieved the following awards:

Living in a small town in southern Russia, surrounded by high mountains, I used to imagine what life was like out there, beyond those peaks. Back then, of course, these thoughts felt like something out of reach, and my parents’ encouraging words seemed merely indulgent. But deep down, I kept believing it would all happen—that a city I had only seen in photos was waiting for me. I had no idea what city it was, but that it was waiting was as clear as a bright, sunny day.
